Progress on our new house...

>> September 28, 2007

We aren't moved in yet, but we are still working diligently. The countertops will be in on Monday. The kitchen plumbing will be hooked up and the appliances installed on Tuesday. The floor is about 1/4 of the way installed as of noon today.

On Monday I started my reupholstery project. It has taken all week to get one of the club chairs unupholstered and ready for its new fabric. Hopefully, that just went slowly because I was being very deliberate and careful, learning how it was originally put together as I tore it apart so that it is put back together correctly. The other three chairs should go more quickly (I hope).
Here is what the chair looked like when I started ...

and here it is as of yesterday afternoon...

I'll post more pictures next week.
(We probably won't be moving in until the week after next because Bruce will be in Atlanta at a conference all week next week.)

I am thanking God for blessing us with this house as I pay our first mortgage payment today!

Molly - 17 weeks

>>

Molly is going to be 4 months on this Sunday. Wow! Time is flying by faster with her than it did with the boys.
This month has been a fun month with her.
She loves her toes. She loves to hold them and put them in her mouth. She was getting mad the other day because she was in her car seat, which prevented her from getting her toes all the way to her mouth.

For the first couple weeks of the month, when you laid her down on the floor she would scootch all over the place on her back. Now she promptly rolls over to see what's around her first.

Last week I put her down in my bedroom at the new house (the only room with furniture in it yet). I went to the bathroom, and when I came back she was nowhere to be seen. I found her because she was squealing and cooing quite loudly, and when I looked to where the noise was coming from I saw toes sticking out from under the bed. She had scootched herself under the bed and was having a grand old time there.

This morning I put her in the saucer and she loved it.
She is growing up sooooo fast!

Soccer time

>>

We are full in the swing of soccer season now. Saturday was Merritt's second game and I remembered the camera.

Merritt is quite a different player this year than he was last year. Last year was his introduction to soccer and, although he loved his experience, I think he loved being a part of a team more than playing the game. So I was actually a little surprised when he said he wanted to play this year. He is doing so well. He actually watches the ball (and not the birds) this year. He said to me the other day, "Mom, aren't you glad I'm not goofing off so much this year?" This comment came out of the blue and I thought he meant goofing off in general. When he saw the look on my face in response to his question he said, "You know, in soccer. I am actually playing the game this year."

After the game we went to eat with some friends who were down from Fresno to help us with lighting at our house. Merritt rode with them in their car from the restaurant to our new house and as they were leaving they passed a person who was asking for money, holding a sign that said "down on luck. God Bless." Our friends said that about 3 minutes after they passed that person, as they were sitting at a stop light, waiting to turn, Merritt said, "You could have helped that person." then, "That's ok. Did you just choose not to?" Its amazing how kids challenge us.

AND I know, I know. Its already Friday and the soccer game was last Saturday. That tells you how much I have been sitting at the computer the past couple of weeks.

Our New Home

>> September 13, 2007

Here is a video walkthrough of our new house, taken the first time I went to the house after we got our keys - a little over a week ago. Its a little shaky, as I'm not a videographer or anything close, but you will get the idea.

Here are some pictures of the work we've done in the past week. I will finish painting today and Bruce will get the rest of the old flooring up this weekend. We hope to be able to move in by the first week of October.

This is Molly's room....
Here are the boys helping paint the great room...

This is the original kitchen...
Here is Bruce tearing up the kitchen floor - just starting the demolition...

The kitchen is empty...
New cabinets are in...
I will post more pictures as we get more done.

Molly - 14 weeks

>>

Here are a couple of pictures of Molly at 14 weeks old...

These pictures were taken in our new home. She has gotten pretty playful this month and is also very vocal. She doesn't roll over yet, but she moves all over the place by scooching on her back.
